Crochet hook B (2.25 mm)

Abbreviations:

Sl st – slip stitch

Sc – single crochet stitch

Gauge: 26 dc x 12 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm) for double crochet

Skirt

Skirt is worked in rounds from the waist down. At the end of the round, join with slip stitch to form a circle.

Chain 70 and join with a sl st to make a ring.

Round 1: ch 2 (counts as 1 sc), 1 sc in each ch of the round. (= 70 sc)

Bodice

The bodice is crocheted from the skirt up in rows. Start from the central marker on the back and crochet to the left. In the first row of the bodice make the eyelets for a belt.

Row 1 (eyelet row): ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and 1 ch), skip 1 ch, *1 dc in the next ch, ch 1, skip the next ch, repeat from * to the end of the row. The end of the row is on the right side from the back marker. Turn.

Row 2: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 14 sts (either ch-1-space or dc), skip 1 stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 30 sts, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 15 sts. Turn.

Row 3: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 12 dc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 28 dc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 13 dc. Turn.

Row 4: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 11 dc, 1 sc in the next dc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 sc, 1 sc in the next dc, 1 dc in each of the next 26 dc, 1 sc in the next dc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 sc, 1 sc in the next dc, 1 dc in each of the next 12 dc. Turn.

Row 5: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 11 dc, 1 sc in each of the next 7 sc, 1 dc in each of the next 26 dc, 1 sc in each of the next 7 sc, 1 dc in each of the next 12 dc. Turn.


Bodice right back:

Row 6: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 10 dc, turn.

Rows 7 trough 10 like row 6.

Row 11: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, turn.

Row 12: like row 11. Tie off. Cut thread,


Bodice left back:

Start from the back opening, tie thread.

Row 6: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 10 dc, turn.

Rows 7 trough 10 like row 6.

Row 11: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, turn.

Row 12: like row 11. Tie off. Cut thread.


Bodice Front:

Start from the left back side, skip 7 sc for the armholes, tie thread.

Row 6: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 25 dc, turn.

Rows 7 trough 10 like row 6.

Row 11: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, 1 sc in each of the next 14 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 6 dc. Turn.

Row 12: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, 1 sc in each of the next 14 sc, 1 dc in each of the next 6 dc. Tie off. Cut thread.


Finishing of the armholes:

Sew shoulder seams. There are 7 sc underarm, start in the 4th sc.

Round 1: ch 2 (counts as 1 sc), work 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, work 30 sc around the armhole, work 1 sc in each of the last 3 sc. Join the round with sl st.

Round 2: ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and ch 1), *1 dc in the next sc, skip 1 sc, ch 1 – repeat from *to the end of the round. Join the round with sl st.

Round 3: ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and ch 1), *1 dc in the next dc, ch 1 over ch-1-space– repeat from *to the end of the round. Join the round with sl st.

Round 4: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc, 2 dc in the same dc, *skip ch-1-space, 3 dc in dc – repeat to the end of the round. Join the round with sl st and tie off.


Finishing the back opening and the neckline:

Start from the left back and make a row of sc along the left back edge, neckline and right back edge. Turn.

Row 2: *ch 3, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sc repeat from * 11 times along the right back edge (these are the button holes). Work 1 sc in each sc around the neckline. Work 1 dc in each sc along the left back edge. Tie off.


Collar (optional):

Start from the left back corner of the neckline.

Row 1: 1 sc in sc, *ch 3, skip the next sc, 1 sc in the next sc – repeat from * to the end of the row/neckline. Turn.

Row 2: *ch 5, 1 sc in the 2nd ch of the ch-3-space – repeat from to the end of the ch-3-spaces, ch 3, sc in the last sc. Turn.

Row 3: ch 3, sc in the 2nd ch of the ch-3-space, *ch 5, 1 sc in the 3nd ch of the ch-5-space – repeat from* to the end of the ch-5-spaces, ch 3, sc in the last sc. Turn.

Row 4: ch 4, 4 dc in the 2nd ch of the ch-3-space, *5 dc in the 3rd ch of the ch-5-space – repeat from * to the end if the ch-5-spaces, 5 dc in the 2nd ch of the ch-3-space.


Finishing:

Sew small buttons to the left back. You can sew 11 buttons for all button loops, or you can sew inly 6 buttons, using every odd loop. Thread ribbon in the eyelet row on the waist.

There is no dc in the chain-space in the round 4, it is only in round 3.

Try this..when you chain 1,skip a sc, that makes a hole as you see in the pic. example, sectionB ch1,5dc,ch1,5dc will span across 12 sc of previous row

I use a one hook & I crochet very loosely. so if you crochet tight a bigger hook will help. also note not to crochet the skirt in the round until you have done at least 3 inches of pattern. it will be near impossible to get the dress on the doll.

Thanks for this tip. I was wondering how in the world you could get this on the doll if you worked in the round from the beginning. I love this pattern, but I'm having a little trouble following instructions, so I thought I'd read the comments. They and the designer's replies to them are very helpful.
