Basic Sweater with Turtleneck Collar

Free Sweater Knitting Pattern

This sweater is very easy to knit, but depending on the type of yarn you choose you can come out with very different results.

Size: 12/14 (42/44)

Materials: Hand-dyed wool yarn sport weight - 800 g.
Needles: 2.5 (3.0 mm) and 4 (3.5 mm) and circular 2.5 (3.0 mm) 60 cm (24") OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 25 st x 34 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm)

Patterns:

Rib: 1k, 1p

Stocking Stitch
1 row and all odd rows - knit sts
2 row and all even rows - purl sts

Back
Cast on 145 sts (including edge stitches) on 3 (3.0 mm) needles.
Knit rib for 4 cm (1.5").
Change needles to 4 (3.5 mm) needles and knit stocking stitch for 210 rows (62 cm). Cast off.

Front Front is knitted the same as back, only the neckline is different.
Cast on 145 sts (including edge stitches) on 3 (3.0 mm) needles.
Knit rib for 4 cm (1.5").
Change needles to 4 (3.5 mm) needles and knit stocking stitch for 172 rows (62 cm).
Row: 173: Close 17 sts in the middle of the front and continiue knitting the left and right parts of the front separately.
Rows 175- 186: Close 1 st in each odd row to shape a neckline.
Rows 187-210: Continue stocking stitch on 52 sts. Cast off. Finish the other side accordingly.

Sleeve
Cast on 60 sts (including edge stitches) on 3 (3.0 mm) needles.
Knit rib for 22 rows.
Change needles to 4 (3.5 mm) needles and knit stocking stitch.
Add 1 sts on both sides in every 4th row 32 times in 128 rows. There will be 124 sts (including edge stitches).
Cast off.

Finishing:
Join shoulder seams.
pick up 80 sts on circular needles along the neckline and knit 48 rows in rounds for the turtleneck collar. Cast off.
Join side seams and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.

I found a sweater I Like and I have #4 Paton Wool Yarn. Can I use that to make the sweater? Now I need help making it larger 14x16 size can you help me?

There are also 210 rows in the front. Please read on the pattern.

In the Back, 210 rows are said to measure 62cm, but in the Front 172 rows are said to measure 62cm. Which is correct?

To get a different look you can decorate the sweater with embroidery, appliqué, ribbons, etc. I decorated the sweater with the machine embroidery: it was embroidered on a piece of a matching fabric, cut out and sewn on the sweater.
