Free Crochet Poncho Pattern
Materials: 100% wool yarn light fingering weight black - 700 gr. It is possible also to use 2 strands of lace weight wool yarn.
100% wool yarn light fingering weight lilac - 50 gr.
Crochet hook 1 (2.75 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Circular needles: Size 0 (2.00 mm).
Gauge:
28 dc x 18 rows = 4" (10 cm)
Pattern:
double crochet
Rib1: 1k, 1 p.
Rib1: 2k, 2 p.
Directions
poncho crocheted as one piece starting from the left side and finishing at the right side (see drawing below).
Chain 453.
Rows 1-87: Crochet 450 dc.
Now crochet the fron and back separately to make a neck hole.
Row 88: Divide all the stitches as follows: 200 dc for the back, 50 for neck hole, 200 dc for the front.
Rows 89-106: For back crochet 200 dc.
Front: 200 dc
Rows 89-90: lilac
Row 91: black
Row 92: lilac
Row 93: black
Row 94: lilac
Row 95: black
Rows 96-99: lilac
Row 100: black
Row 101: lilac
Row 102: black
Row 103: lilac
Row 104: black
Rows 105-106: lilac
Crochet ch 50 to connect front and back.
Rows 107-193: 450 dc in black.
Tie off.
Finishing:
Turtleneck Collar:
Pick up 174 sts along the neck line on the circular needles and knit rib 1 in rounds for 74 rows. Cast off.
Cuffs:
Pick up 190 sts along 60 cm (24") of the middle part of the side of the poncho on the circular needles and knit rib 2 for 6 rows.
Row 7: knit each 2 k as k2tog (knit 2 tog).
Rows 8-15: 2 k, 1 p
Row 16: knit each 2 k as k2tog (knit 2 tog).
Rows 17-80: 94 sts knit rib 1. cast off.
Join the cuffs seams. Make fringe.
