Finishing:

Fold the working piece in half widthwise, align the hems of the front parts with the hem of the back. Sew the sides for about 2 inches, or till the 4th ridge, from the bottom up.

Weave in all yarn ends

Cut a piece of yarn of about 8"-10" long. Attach the piece of yarn to the proper right edge of the front on the level between the 3rd and 4th ridges. With a crochet hook, chain 5-8 (the number of chains depends on the size of the button you use), bind off the chain. Thread the end of yarn into tapestry needle, and sew the end of the chain to the front edge to make a loop.

Sew a button to the proper left opposite the loop.

Enjoy!

Poster: New Knitter
February 21, 2013

I am a beginning knitter and this was a good project. However, I found the directions to be confusing when they talk about "dividing the stitches". My sister gave the following directions which helped greatly:

Before you begin, divide off some of your yarn. You will eventually be knitting from 2 balls of yarn.

At row 29, knit 14 stitches. Tie in new yarn (on the wrong side of your project). Using new yarn, finish row.
Row 30: Knit 14 stitches, drop new yarn, pick up old yarn, and finish row. Continue through row 68. Cast off.

Hope this is helpful. It turns out cute.
