Free Headband Knitting Pattern

Size: any, 5" (12.5 cm) wide

Materials: Lion Brand (affiliate link) Amazing aran weight yarn, 147 yards (134 meters) / 50 gr color #214 Constellation - 0.5 ball
3 fancy buttons.

Needles: US size 7 (4.5 mm)

Gauge: 20 sts = 5" (12.5 cm)

Directions:

Measure the cicumference of your head. This will be the length of your band.

Cast on 20 sts.
Row 1: k1, *k2, p2 repeat from * 4 times, k3
Row 2: k1, *p2, k2 repeat from * 4 times, p2, k1
Row 3: k1, *p2, k2 repeat from * 4 times, p2, k1
Row 4: k1, *k2, p2 repeat from * 4 times, k3
Repeat rows 1-4 and work the length of your head's circumference.

Last rows:
Row X: k3, k2tog, yo, *k4, k2tog, yo, repeat from * 2 times, k3
Row Y: k1, *k1, p1 repeat from * 9 times, k1
Row Z: k1, *p1, k1 repeat from * 9 times, k1
Bind off

Finishing

Fold the strip with the right side outwards. Overlap the short ends about 1" with the end with buttonholes on top.

Mark the position of the buttons. Attach 3 buttons about 1/2" from the edge.
