Free Baby Mittens Knitting Pattern
Mittens for the baby are worked in rounds like socks on dpn or circular needles without a thumb.
Materials: Rowan (affiliate link) Purelife Organic Wool DK weight yarn, 137 yards (125 meters) / 50 gr, color 603 Black Tea - 0.5 ball.
Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm) circular or dpn
Gauge for seed stitch: 19 st x 36 rows = 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm)
Seed Stitch in rounds:
Row 1: k1, p1, repeat to the end of the round
Row 2: p1, k1, repeat to the end of the round.
Repeat rounds 1-2
Directions
Cast on 30 sts, join and continue to knit in rounds.
Work rib 1x1 for 14 rounds.
Work seed stitch for 14 rounds.
To shape the top:
Round 29: k2tog, k 11, ssk, k2tog, k 11, ssk
Round 30: k2tog, k 9, ssk, k2tog, k 9, ssk
Round 31: k2tog, k 7, ssk, k2tog, k 7, ssk
Round 32: k2tog, k 5, ssk, k2tog, k 5, ssk
Round 33: k2tog, k 3, ssk, k2tog, k 3, ssk
Round 34: k2tog, k 1, ssk, k2tog, k 1, ssk
Cut yarn, leaving a 4" (10 cm) tail. Pull through remaining sts and secure.
Finishing
Weave in ends.
