Lace Wrap/Stole for 18-inch Doll

Free Doll Shawl Knitting Pattern

Stole measures 4" (10 cm) x 28" (70 cm)

Skills Required/Techniques Used:

-Knit & purl, cast on & bind off

-Increasing:yarn over (YO)

-Decreasing: slip-slip-knit (ssk)

-Working lace patterns


Materials: Aunt Lydia (affiliate link)'s Fashion Crochet (Size 5) thread (100% cotton) 150 yards (137 meters) / 37 grams (1.30 ounces) - 1 ball

Needles: US 6 (4 mm) straight needles OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE, though gauge is not very important in this project

Gauge for garter stitch: 19 sts = 4" (10 cm)

Abbreviations:
k - knit
p - purl
yo - yarn over
ssk - slip, slip, knit (left leaning decrease)

St, sts – stitch, stitches

RS - right side

WS - wrong side

Pattern Notes:

Lace pattern worked on 13 sts:
Row 1 (RS):*yo, ssk, k1 - repeat from * 4 times, k1
Rows 2, 4 and 6 (WS) : purl
Row 3 (RS): k1, *yo, ssk, k1 - repeat from * 4 times
Row 5 (RS): k2, *yo, ssk, k1 - repeat from * 3 times, yo, ssk

Repeat rows 1-6.



Garter Stitch: All rows knit.

Selvege/edge stitches: slip the first stitch, purl the last stitch in a row.

Shawl

The shawl is worked back and forth in a lace pattern.
Cast on 19 sts, knit 2 rows.

Row 3 (RS): sl 1, k 2, *yo, ssk, k1 repeat from * 4 times, k3, p1

Rows 4, 6, 8 (WS): sl 1, k2, p13 , k2, p 1

Row 5 (RS): sl 1, k3, *yo, ssk, k1 - repeat from * 4 times, k2, p1

Row 7 (RS): sl 1, k4, *yo, ssk, k1 - repeat from * 3 times, yo, ssk, k2, p1

Repeat rows 3-8 to desired length. Finish with 2 rows in garter st.: both rows knit. Bind off. Block.
