Outlander Claire Cowl
Free Cowl Knitting Pattern
This easy-to-knit cowl was inspired by the cowl worn by Claire from the popular Starz TV series Outlander. I've been a long-time fan of the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon, and so I was super excited when I heard that Starz TV was making an adaptation of it. I knew I had to try and make my own version of the cowl as soon as I laid eyes on it. Here is the result of that effort.
Finished size: about 8" (20 cm) high and 52" (130 cm) circumference length
Materials: Lamb's Pride Bulky by Brown Sheep (affiliate link) Company super bulky yarn (85% wool/15% mohair) 125 yards (114 m) / 113 gr - 2 skeins
Needles: US 19 (15 mm) straight needles
Gauge is not important.
Cowl
The cowl is knitted using 2 strands of yarn.
Cast on 16 sts. Knit all rows until the length of the piece is 52" (130 cm). Bind off.
Sew the short sides together.
Enjoy!

Why cant you? Just use thinner yarn, and smaller needles! Just like your teacher taught you!

Can you identify the specific Lamb's Pride yarn colors you used? They capture the tones of a Scottish meadow, pales and deeps in harmony. Perhaps that is what you intended. Beautiful palette!

Love this striking cowl! The first glance takes me to the snowy forest for
a walk in the pure, cold silence and shimmer.
