Free Doll Suit Knitting Pattern

Materials: Red Heart (affiliate link) Fashion Size 3 Crochet Thread 100% mercerized cotton, 125 yards (114 meters), color Plum – 1.5 balls
Red Heart (affiliate link) Fashion Size 3 Crochet Thread 100% mercerized cotton, 125 yards (114 meters), color White – about 20 yds

Hook: C (2.75mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 8 V-sts x 11 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm)

Abbreviations:

ch = chain
st(s) = stitch(es)
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
V-stitch (V-st) - (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) into ch 1 of the V-stitch of the prev. row
ch 3 (counts as dc) – if the next row says “dc into dc”, the ch3 will count as the first dc.


Skirt

The skirt is worked top-down first in rows, then in rounds. Each round ends with a slip stitch which closes the round into a circle.

Chain 62.
Row 1: insert hook in the 4th ch (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the 59 ch across, turn.
Row 2: ch 3 (counts 1 dc), skip the next 2 dc, * V-st in the next dc, skip next dc- repeat from * 27 times to the last 5 dc; dc in the next dc (fifth from the end; leave 4 dc, turn (see photo).

Rows 3-4: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), V-st-in V-st 27 times, dc in the last dc, turn.
Row 5 (Round 1): work as row 3, ch 1, sl st into last ch of beginning 3-ch to close the round.
Round 2 and all rounds: ch 3, V-st in V-st 27 times, dc in the base of the 3-ch, ch 1, sl st into last ch of beginning 3-ch.
Work 10 more rounds, or to desired length. Tie off


Cardigan


The body of the cardigan is worked in one piece, starting from the bottom edge (hem) at the back. The sleeves are added to the finished body. Odd rows are the right side of the work.

Back

Chain 31.
Row 1: Insert hook in the 4th chain from the hook (counts as the first dc), dc in the next chain, *skip 1 chain, V-st in the next chain - rep from * 12 times to the last 3 chains, skip 1 chain, dc in each of the remaining 2 chains.
Row 2: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the next dc, V-sts-in-V-sts 12 times, dc in each of the last 2 dc, turn.
Repeat row 2 fourteen times.

Shaping neckline and working the right half of the front:

Row 15: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the next dc, V-st-in-V-st 4 times, turn.
Row 16: ch 4 (counts as dc and ch), dc in the ch-space of V-st, V-st-in-V-st 3 times, dc in each of the last 2 dc, turn.
Repeat rows 15 and 16 six times.
Row 21: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the next dc, V-st-in-V-st 4 times, dc in the top of 3 ch-space, turn.
Row 22: ch 4 (counts as dc and ch), dc in the same dc, V-st-in-the V-st 4 times, dc in each of the last 2 dc, turn.
Row 23: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the next dc, V-sts-in-the V-st 5 times, turn.
Row 24: ch 4 (counts as dc and ch), dc in the ch-space of V-st, V-st-in-the V-st 4 times, dc in each of the last 2 dc, turn.
Row 25: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the next dc, V-st-in-the V-st 5 times, dc in the top of 3 ch-space, turn.
Row 26: ch 4 (counts as dc and ch), dc in the same dc, V-st-in-the V-st 5 times, dc in each of the last 2 dc, turn.

Left front:

With right side facing, counting from the left, start from the 4th V-st. Insert hook in the ch-space of the V-st:
Row 15: ch 4 (counts as dc and ch), dc in the ch-space of the V-st, V-st-in-the V-st 3 times, dc in each of the last 2 dc, turn.
Row 16: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the next dc, V-st-in-the V-st 4 times, turn.
Rows 17 and 19 as row 15
Row 18: as 16
Row 20: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the next dc, V-st-in-the V-st 4 times, dc in the top of 3-ch, turn - (increase)

Sleeves:

With RS facing, find the seventh row from the beginning edge (back hem) and find the seventh row from the ending edge (front hem). Mark with pins. (photo)


Make a row of 33 sc between the pins. Turn.

Row 2: ch 1, sc in each of the 33 sc, turn.
Row 3: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each of the next 2 sc, *skip the next sc, V-st in the next sc - rep from* 13 times to the last 4 sc, skip the next sc, dc in each of the last 3 sc, turn.
Row 4: ch 3 (counts as dc), skip 1 dc, dc in the next dc, dc in the first dc of the V-st, dc in the ch-space of the V-st, V-st-in-the V-st 11 times, dc in the ch-space of the last V-st, dc in the second dc of the last V-st, skip the next dc, dc in each of the last 2 dc, turn.
Row 5: ch 3 (counts as dc), skip the next dc, dc in each of the next 2 dc, V-st-in-the V-st 11 times, dc in the next dc, skip the next 1 dc, dc in the last 2 dc, turn.
Row 6: ch 3 (counts as dc), skip the next dc, dc in the next dc, V-st-in-the V-st 11 times, dc in the next dc, skip the next dc, dc in the last dc, turn.
Row 7: ch 3 (counts as dc), skip dc, V-st-in-the V-st 11 times, dc in the last dc (top of 3 ch), turn.
Row 8: ch 3 (counts as dc), V-st-in-the V-st 11 times, dc in the last dc (top of 3 ch), turn.
Rows 9 & 10: like row 7. Cut thread.

Work the second sleeve in the same way.




Finishing

Fold the piece along the shoulders, align the edges. Sew the sleeve and side seams.

With a thread of contrasting color, starting from the side seam, work 3 rows of sc around the edges. To shape the corners between the bottom band and front bands increase by 2 sc in every round. In the last round, work buttonhole at the end of the right button band by working ch 2, skip 1 st.

Cut thread and weave in the ends. Make 3 rows of sc around the sleeve edges.
Sew on 1 small button at the corner of the left front.

Ty so much for the wonderful doll clothes patterns. My grand daughter has loved everyone I've made!! I am stuck on the English Garden set. After I did rows 15 and 16 of the collar shaping and right side it says to repeat those Ross again 6 times but then you go on to row 21. I'm just not getting what it means. Can you help me out?
