Free Doll Skirt and Top Crochet Pattern
Materials: Aunt Lydia (affiliate link)'s Classic Crochet Thread size #10 (100% mercerized cotton), colors - white, goldenrod and green (myrtle green) 1 ball each
6 small buttons for the top
Hook: 0 (1.75 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Gauge: 28 dc = 4” (10 cm)
Abbreviations and special stitches:
Dc - double crochet
Sc – single crochet
Ch – chain
V-stitch – (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in the same indicated stitch or space
V-stitch in V-stitch – V stitch in the ch-1-space of the V-stitch
Sl st – slip stitch
The skirt is worked top-down seamlessly. The trim with daisies is added afterwards.
The trim consists of 10 square motifs, worked separately, then sewn together into a strip and joined into a circle.
Square Motif, make 10:
With yellow ch 4, join with sl st into round.
Round 1: 8 sc into the circle, join with sl st. = 8 sts
Round 2: ch 1, *1 sc in the next sc, 2 sc in the next sc - repeat from * 4 times = 12 sts
Round 3 with white thread: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in the same st, 2 dc in the next sc,
V-st in the next sc, * (2 dc in the next sc) twice, V-st in the next sc - repeat from * 3 times, join with sl st = 28 sts
Round 4 with green thread: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in the ch-1-space), *1 dc in each of the next 6 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in the ch-1-space) - repeat from * 3 times, dc in the last dc, join with sl st.
Cut thread, tie off.
Skirt
With green thread chain 80, join into round.
Round 1: ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and 1 chain), skip the next chain, *dc in the next chain, skip 1 chain, ch 1 - repeat from * across the round. Join with sl st.
Round 2: ch 4, dc under ch-1-space, V-st in each ch-1-space across the round. Join with sl st.
Repeat round 2 ten more times. Rounds 6 and 8 work in white, round 7 work in yellow.
Sew the squares into a strip, there are 12 stitches on each side of the square, connect 12 sts with 12 sts of another square. Then connect the first and the last squares to get a circle.
Work a row of 120 sc along both edges of the trim.
Sew the trim to the skirt. There are 120 sts on the hem of the skirt, connect stitch to stitch with the trim.
Belt
With white thread chain a string 15" long, Tie off. Cut thread. With yellow thread, chain 10, 1 sc in the 11th chain of the white string. *Chain 10, skip the next 10 chains on the white string, sc in the next chain. Repeat to the end of the white string. Tie off, cut thread. With green thread *chain 10, 1 sc in the sc on the yellow row, repeat to the end. Tie off, cut thread.
Finishing:
Weave in all thread ends. Insert the belt through the eyelets of the first round of the skirt.
Top
Top is worked top-down in one piece, seamlessly with raglan increases.
With white thread chain (48+3) = 51.
Row 1: dc in the 5th chain from the hook, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in the next chain, 1 dc in each of the next 10 chains, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in the next chain, 1 dc in each of the next 12 chains, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in the next chain, 1 dc in each of the next 10 chains, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in the next chain, 1 dc in each of the last 6 chains. Turn.
Row 2: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 7 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) under the ch-1-space,
1 dc in each of the next 14 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) under the ch-1-space, 1 dc in each of the next 16 dc,
(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) under the ch-1-space, 1 dc in each of the next 14 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) under the ch-1-space, 1 dc in each of the next 8 dc. Turn.
Row 3: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 9 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) under the ch-1-space, 1 dc in each of the next 18 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) under the ch-1-space, 1 dc in each of the next 20 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) under the ch-1-space, 1 dc in each of the next 18 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) under the ch-1-space, 1 dc in each of the next 10 dc. Tie off. Cut yellow thread.
Row 8, with green thread: ch 1, 1 sc in each of the next 20 dc, 2 sc under ch-1-space, 1 sc in each of the next 38 dc, 2 sc under ch-1-space, 1 sc in each of the next 40 dc, 2 sc under ch-1-space, 1 sc in each of the next 38 dc, 2 sc under ch-1-space, 1 sc in each of the next 20 dc. Tie off. Cut green thread.
Divide for sleeves and Bodice:
Continue with white thread.
Row 9: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 20 sc, chain 3, skip the next 40 sc, fold the working piece, 1 dc in each of the next 42 sc, chain 3, skip the next 40 sc, 1 dc in each of the last 21 sc. Turn.
Rows 10 through 15: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of 81 dc of the row.
Button Band:
Fasten yellow thread to the lower edge of right front, work 30 sc along the edge, turn.
*Chain 3, skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc - repeat from * to the end of the row, tie off, cut thread.
Fasten yellow thread to the lower edge of left front and work 30 sc, along the edge, turn, work 30 sc back. Tie off, cut thread.
Finishing:
Weave in all thread ends. Sew 6 buttons to the left band.
