Free Doll Hat Knitting Pattern
Skills Required/Techniques Used:
-Knit & purl, cast on & bind off
-Decreasing: knit 2 together (k2 tog), slip-slip-knit (ssk)
-Working in the round on double pointed needles
-Working color patterns, stranded knitting
Materials: Knit Picks (affiliate link) Palette fingering weight 100% wool yarn 231 yds (210 m)/ 50 g color white (main color) 0.5 ball and red (contrast color) – small amount
Needles: US 1.5(2.5mm) and US 2 (2.75mm) dpn OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Gauge: 28 sts x 36 rows = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) for stockinette on 2.75 mm needles.

Abbreviations:
k - knit
p - purl
ssk - slip, slip, knit (left slanting decrease).
k2togl - knit 2 together

Hat
The hat is worked in the round, colorwork pattern is worked according to diagram B.
On smaller needles, with main color yarn, loosely cast on 68 sts, distribute them evenly on dpn, join and continue to work in rounds. Take care not to twist the sts.
Work 6 rounds of 1x1 rib.
Round 7 change to larger needles: knit.
Rounds 8-22 work the colored pattern by scheme B.
Work the next 14 rounds in stockinette (knit).
The next round (decrease rnd): (k2tog, k12, ssk, k1) 4 times. = 60 sts
The next round (decrease rnd): (k2 tog, k10, ssk, k1) 4 times. = 52 sts
The next round (decrease rnd): (k2 tog, k8, ssk, k1) 4 times. = 44 sts
The next round (decrease rnd): (k2 tog, k6, ssk, k1) 4 times. = 36 sts
The next round (decrease rnd): (k2 tog, k4, ssk, k1) 4 times. = 28 sts
The next round (decrease rnd): (k2 tog, k2, ssk, k1) 4 times. = 20 sts
The next round (decrease rnd): (k2 tog, ssk, k1) 4 times.= 12 sts
Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread the end through remaining sts and fasten securely.
