Free Doll Dress Knitting Pattern

This seamless dress features raglan sleeves and a festive appearance courtesy of the lace motif in the skirt. It is sized for 14 ½ – 15” dolls such as Wellie Wishers, Hearts4Hearts, Glitter Girls, Ruby Red Fashions Dolls, etc.

Size: fits 141/2-inch dolls like American Girl Wellie Wishers, Glitter Girls, Ruby Bed Fashion Friends and other dolls with similar body.

Materials: Alize (affiliate link) Angora Gold lace weight yarn (80% acrylic, 20% wool), 100 gr/ 601 yard (825 m) - 1 ball.

Needles: circular and double pointed needles (dpn) US # 1 (2.25mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 24sts x 40 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch.

Notions:
yarn needle, 4 stitch markers, sew-on snaps, sewing needle and thread of matching color, small embellishments of your choice (optional).

Abbreviations:
k - knit
p - purl
k2tog - knit 2 together
k2tog tbl - knit 2 together through back loop
k3tog tbl - knit 3 together through back loop

Repeat rows 1-4

Raglan increases: in every right side (RS) row, work till marker, make 1 (m1), slip marker (sm), knit 1 (k1), m1. There are 4 raglan lines, repeat on each raglan line, thus the number of sts in each RS row will increase by 8.

The selvedge/edge stitches are worked as follows: knit the first stitch and purl the last one.

Button Bands (bb) are worked in garter stitch on 3 stitches in the beginning and in the end of each row.


Short Overview of the Pattern:

The dress is worked top-down, seamlessly, back and forth till the hem. The yoke is worked in stockinette with button bands in garter stitch and raglan increases. The sleeves are worked in rounds on dpn. A-shape of the dress is achieved by increasing the number of stitches between the lace repeats, we make increases in the third row of lace pattern.

Dress

Cast on 39 sts: 1 edge st - 3 sts right button band (bb) - 3 sts right back - 1 st raglan (place the first marker before this st) - 6 sts right sleeve - 1 st raglan (place the second marker before this st) - 9 sts front - 1 st raglan (place the third marker before this st) - 6 sts left sleeve - 1 raglan (place the fourth marker before this st) - 3 sts left back - 3 sts left bb - 1 st edge

Work 2 foundation rows in garter stitch: both rows knit.

Row 1 (RS): *knit till marker, m1, sm, k1, m1 - repeat from * 4 times, knit till last st, p1. + 8 sts

Row 2 (WS): k4, purl till last 4 sts, k3, p1.

Repeat rows 1-2 seven more times.

Sleeves

Work one sleeve at a time.

Transfer 22 sts from waste yarn on 3 dpn: 7-8-7 sts per needle, pu&k 2 underarm sts = 24 sts.

Work 33 rounds, all rounds knit. Bind off, cut yarn. or Work 30 rounds in stockinette - all rounds knit, work 3 more rounds in garter stitch: rounds 31 and 33 purl, round 32 knit. Bind off.


Finishing:

Weave in all yarn ends. Sew invisible plastic snaps on the button bands.
