How to Chain in Crochet

The chain is the most basic crochet stitch. A chain of the right length is the base for most crochet patterns. To chain after you have tied a slip knot, simply hook the yarn and pull it out through the knot. Then hook again and pull it out through the new loop. Repeat until you have a chain of the required length.
