Pattern

The sweater is worked from the top to the bottom back and forth and in rounds without seams.

With yarn A cast on 49 (53, 53, 59, 61, 65) sts and purl 1 row.
Divide stitches as follows: 1 edge st, 1 st (left front), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 8 (9, 9, 11, 11, 12) sts (left sleeve), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 25 (27, 27, 29, 31, 33) sts (back), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 8 (9, 9, 11, 11, 12) sts (right sleeve), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 1 sts (right front), 1 edge st.
Work stockinette st for 58 (64, 78, 92, 106, 120) rows increasing by 8 sts (double increase at the raglan sts)  in each odd row as follows: M1, k1, M1 at the raglan st.
At the same time starting from row 25 increase for 1 st at the beginning and the end of the row (2 sts per row) in every odd row 6 (7, 7, 7, 8, 8) times.  Work row 37 (39, 39, 39, 41, 41), at the end of the row cast on 11 (11, 11, 13, 13, 13) st with the single cast on method and continue to work in rounds.

Divide for sleeves

Round 51 (57, 63, 69, 77, 83): *k5, k2tog*, repeat from * to the end of the round.
Work rib 1x1 for 16 rounds. Cast off.

Sleeve
Sleeves are worked in rounds.
Transfer sleeve sts from the yarn to the needles and pick up 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) sts over the 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) underarm sts. Work stockinette st for 4 rounds.
With yarn B knit one row, purl the next row.

This is beautiful, however the yarn has been discontinued. What yarn would you suggest as a substitution?

The top is worked back and forth first, that is why selvedge sts were mentioned.

I've been looking for a basic raglan scoop neck to make as a twin set. I have a great cardigan. This is a great neckline - modest but modern, and will allow for creativity of stitches! Thanks so much!

I wish there was a schematic. I would like to make it a bit longer and the neckline a bit higher.

Love this. Trying to make it, but a bit confused.
When doing the increase at the raglan stitch, does the stitch marker move with the increased stitches?

Also, how many sleeve stitches do you end up with, when transfering in the "Divide for sleeves" section?

And, you start working in rounds and row 37.

I have ripped this out 3 times, obviously confused. I get to the marker, m1, k1, m1, slip marker - doesn't work. Get to 1 st before marker, m1, k1, m1, doesn't work. Please help.

I have a question about the selvedge stitches. Since this is knit in the round, are the selvedge stitches necessary? Thank you.
