Short Overview of the Pattern
The blanket is knitted in 2 colors, with short rows, in garter stitch. There are only a handful of full rows in the whole blanket. Since the blanket is worked with short rows and there are increases and then decreases along the right edge of the RS rows, the stitch count is changing all the time. That is why instructions for every odd row are provided. However, there is no need to count the stitches in every row. The short row step is 6 stitches throughout the blanket, which means that you either increase the length of each next short row by 6 sts, or decrease it by 6 sts. It is sufficient to check the stitch count from time to time to make sure it is correct. The short rows are worked in the “wrap & turn” method. When you are knitting the wrapped stitch, pick up the wrap and knit it together with the stitche, it was wrapped around. There will be stithes with 2 wraps. You have to pick them up and work together with the wrapped stitch, when you are knitting it.
After the body of the blanket is finished, the border is worked in the round in garter stitch.
