This helps me when I knit a piece where the pattern changes across the width..I write down in (in this case) 3 columns, 1-1-1 indicating row one of each pattern. The next would be 2-2-2. Since the main pattern has 30 rows, and the left edge has 6 rows, and the right edge has 7 repeating rows, it will continue 3-3-3; 4-4-4, 5-5-5; 6-6-6; 1-7-7; 2-8-1; 3-9-2. etc. I scratch off each set as I go so I never lose track of where I am. It might be better to envision it vertically... first column would be 1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6..Vertically, next to this column would be the main pattern 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 etc up to 30: 27,28,29,30,1,2,3,4 etc. The the 3rd column would be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 etc. HOpe this helps, it's not as confusing as it seems.
