Any easy fix to enlarge or reduce the overall size is to change the hook size up or down. For a smaller afghan, use an "F" hook, crochet a gauge swatch and see if you like the results. For a larger afghan jump up to an "H" hook and repeat the gauge swatch to check before beginning.
