I don't know how to read diagrams. Do I need to to follow directions? Love the shawl.

I would love to make this but I am having difficulty finding lace weight wool. What brand wool was used for this project? the thinnest i can find is #10 cotton.

For this shawl I used 3 strands of lace weight yarn.

Yes, the shawl was crocheted back and forth. You have to turn it each row.

When you are making a stitch into the chain 3 of the previous row, are you making it in the chain 3 space or actually into one of the chain stitches?

Beautiful shawl. I am almost finished with mine. There are typos in the instructions, so use the diagram. I am using a number 3 Simply Soft Light yarn so my shawl is a bit heavier, good for WI fall or spring. I also did mine in grey and black. It is stunning. I will also add, this was my first project asside from straight rows for scarfs. Good thing I have a book that teaches reading diagrams or I would have been up a creek.

That shawl is absolutely stunning! I'm going to start this as a winter project and I think I will do it in the red and black as well. Thx so much for sharing. MO

I have not started the shawl yet, but am somewhat confused with the instructions. I might use another trusted pattern, but use the lace weight yarn. Is there a video to show how the pattern progresses ?

Absolutly gorgious shawl. I have a problem though...I have made and remade up through row 6 and I have a copy of the chart, but mine looks like what is on the chart, but nothing like the beautiful picture of the Flame and Ember Shawl! Help, can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong! Thanks very much!

Are you turning your work at the beginning of each row, when you chain 5 or 7? - In order to crochet back and forth? For example - chain 7, turn, then 5 dc into the previous 5 dc, and so on, until the chain 2, then 1dc - then chain 5, turn

What kind of yarn was used on this. What is shawl weight yarn. I haven't heard of that before. I usually use a 4ply like Caron
