You say that there are 2selvedge sts. So are you talking the the first stitch is a slip stitch and the last "extra" stitch should be a slip stitch too?

Not being a smarty pant here. Six times six is 36...You slip the first stitch, do your repeat 6 times then knit the last stitch. I hope this helps. I'm going to start this patten.

Two extra sts are selvedge sts. The first is slipped, the last is knit.

To make a yarn over, you simply bring the knitting yarn (the “over” strand) over the needle.

I'm a little confused do I do the 4 pattern rows twice and then finish with the direction rows?

You have to repeat these 4 rows to desired length.

I'm sorry still not understanding, which 4 rows? The 4 pattern rows or the 4 directions rows?

They are the same, but repeat directions rows.

The 4 pattern rows and the 4 directions rows are the same, the directions involve more detail because they include the cast on amount and the selvedge stitch instructions

Read the 'directions' not just the pattern. It tells you to slip the 1st st. and knit the last.

I figured it out about a week ago after reading the pattern again.
Slip 1 + 36 ST + Knit 1 = 38
I see that I'm not the only one confused by the count!

I've make a few scarves with a similar pattern. Wondering why you slip 1 stitch at the beginning of the row rather than actually knitting it.

I am confused. The PATTERN says "Multiples of 6" but the DIRECTIONS say "cast on 38"...

The first stitch is slipped and the last stitch is knit, just as the pattern instructs you to.

The pattern is 36 stitches and there are 2 selve stitches, one at the beginning and one at the end.
