There is one sl st at the end of each sleeve ruffle row. You, in fact, attach the ruffle to the armhole with the slip stitches. Since the ruffle is mesh, there suppose to be holes in it.

I could be wrong, but if you look at the pictures close enough it looks like she's skipping two sc before she sc after the chain 6 in row 1 of the sleeves. If I am right, she didn't clarify that. Also, when making the white underskirt I used hdv instead of DC and the length turned out to be right. From my experience, you just need to play around with it a bit to get the dress to look the way you want it.

I recently made this pattern and it is beautiful however, I like others had trouble with some of the directions. Ch1( counts as sc) also the sleeves I pulled out 4 times before I figured it out. Also, I kept thinking the dress looked long for the doll and I was right the bodice is where i will be adjusting it to fit the doll correctly. I double checked my counts on the number of rows.
Also, was wondering if your dc is the USA version of the half double. my skirt ended up about 2 inches to long.
Going to remake as it is a bride's gift to her flower girl.

Will this work with a different ply yarn? I recently ordered some sport weight yarn and wonder if I could use that for this or if DK is necessary for the gauge.
Thanks.

While this is a very cute pattern, I found the instructions incomplete and hard to follow. I have a great deal of experience in both knitting and crochet, and shouldn't have these issues. For example, the instruction to sew the side seams doesn't tell you how far up the seams go (to leave sleeve openings). Instructions for rows 1-8 say: "ch 1 (counts as 1 sc), 24 sc". Classically, however, the "ch 1" is NOT counted in the number of stitches, and I can't tell what the total number of stitches in a row should be: 24 or 25? I am having other issues as well, but you get the picture. Again, this is very cute AND free, which is wonderful, and I appreciate that. But, it would have helped to have someone help the designer to clarify and edit the instructions.

I do not understand the directions for the sleeves. How many sl stitches should I have. I don't understand how I can "sl st to the 3rd sc, turn and then chain 6, 1 sc into ch 6 of the prev. row. Won't there be a big gap?
