Directions
The cardigan is worked from the top to the bottom back and forth without seams.
With yarn C cast on 54 sts on needles #2 and knit 1 row.
Divide stitches as follows: 1 edge st, 7 st (left front), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 10 sts (left sleeve), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 14 sts (back), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 10 sts (right sleeve), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 7 sts (right front), 1 edge st.
Work garter stitch for 26 rows (13 ridges) increasing for 8 sts (double increase at the raglan sts) in each odd row as follows: *M 1, k 1 (raglan st), M 1*. Work 18 rows with yarn C, 4 rows with yarn B and 4 rows with yarn C.
With yarn A on needles #3 work stocking stitch for 16 rows increasing for 8 sts (double increase at the raglan sts) in each odd row. You'll have 222 sts.
Divide for sleeves
Work 1 edge st, 28 sts of the left front and 1 raglan st, cast on 4 sts with single cast on, transfer 52 st of the left sleeve to a length of yarn, work 1 raglan st, 56 sts of the back, 1 raglan st, transfer 52 st of the right sleeve to a length of yarn, cast on 4 sts with single cast on, work 1 raglan st and 28 sts of the right front and 1 edge st. Total 126 sts for the body of the cardigan (back and fronts). Work stocking stitch for 40 rows. With yarn C on needles #2 work garter stitch for 6 rows. Cast off.
Sleeve
Sleeves worked in rounds on double pointed needles.
Transfer 52 sts from the yarn to the needles #3 and pick up 4 sts over the 4 underarm sts. You'll have 56 sts. Place marker on the 2nd underarm st. Work 6 rounds.
To decrease the sleeve decrease by 2 sts on both side of the marker in every 3rd round 10 times (29 sts total in 30 rows).
With yarn C on needles #2 work garter sts for 6 rounds. Cast off.
Finishing:
For button bands with yarn C on needles #2 pick up 54 sts along the center of the front and knit 8 rows of garter stitch. Cast off.
On the right band make 5 button holes as follows: yo, k2tog.
Sew on 5 buttons.
Enjoy!
